Travels to Munich and Ulm

Weekend Travels Whew...that was a tiring weekend.  Saturday we went to Munich to go to Oktoberfest and to walk around and sight-see.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great.  It was a cloudy day with an increasing chance of rain as the day went on.  We went to Oktoberfest for a little while in the beginning.  After about 45 minutes though I took Valerie to a nearby park and they wouldn't let us back into Oktoberfest after that because of the stroller!  No strollers on the weekend.  That would've been helpful to know before I left everyone else I was with IN Oktoberfest when you let us through the first time.  :-(  Thank goodness for cell phones.  We did walk around the city though and saw some neat places.  It was very crowded because of Oktoberfest.  Had some delicious roasted almonds.  Below are pictures of the "Rathaus" which is like the town hall.  One part in the tower moves at certain hours, but we didn'...

Happy Friday! I thought I'd post a few pictures for your viewing pleasure today!  The first is a picture of the majestic Heidenheim Castle.  I'm not sure if that's it's proper name, but it sits up on the hill overlooking the town.  How awesome is that to look up and see?!?  You can see it from just about everywhere around town.  We can even see it from our window! Now a little tour around the apartment....  Above is our kitchen area.  Pretty basic, but it does the job.  There's a little fridge in the bottom right that looks like a cabinet.  The stove top takes forever to heat up.  I miss my gas stove.  Haven't done much cooking here though and don't plan to.    This area is opposite the kitchen.  We have a tv, but it only gets German channels, plus CNN.    The other side of our living space there is a little couch and table.  Bedroom, complete with baby peeking through...

Greetings from Germany

Hello Friends! ...Or should I say "Guten Tag!" But that's pushing my German!  Can't believe it's already Thursday, our first few days here have flown by!  Valerie did pretty well on the plane trip here.  The first few hours were a little rough, but once we finally got her to sleep it was smooth sailing.  She is really doing well adjusting to the changes here.  She is having a little trouble falling asleep on her own, but once she is asleep she has been taking good naps and sleeping through the night.  Once we arrived in Frankfurt we rented our car (a sweet Audi A6!) and drove 2 hours to where we are staying-Heidenheim.  So far I really like the town.  We are about a 20 minute walk from the downtown area.  Our apartment is small and pretty basic, but it has what we need. Jesse walks to work (it's about a 25 minute walk) each day.  Valerie and I have been finding our way around town too.  I know where the drugstore is, plenty of ba...
