Greetings from Germany

Hello Friends!
...Or should I say "Guten Tag!" But that's pushing my German!  Can't believe it's already Thursday, our first few days here have flown by!  Valerie did pretty well on the plane trip here.  The first few hours were a little rough, but once we finally got her to sleep it was smooth sailing.  She is really doing well adjusting to the changes here.  She is having a little trouble falling asleep on her own, but once she is asleep she has been taking good naps and sleeping through the night.  Once we arrived in Frankfurt we rented our car (a sweet Audi A6!) and drove 2 hours to where we are staying-Heidenheim.  So far I really like the town.  We are about a 20 minute walk from the downtown area.  Our apartment is small and pretty basic, but it has what we need.

Jesse walks to work (it's about a 25 minute walk) each day.  Valerie and I have been finding our way around town too.  I know where the drugstore is, plenty of bakeries, and some small grocery stores.  We walk downtown to meet Jesse and some co-workers for lunch each day.  We usually go to a bakery/coffeshop type place.  Had a delicious sandwich today with ham, mustard, lettuce, a pickle, and some sort of creamy spread on a pretzel roll-yum!  We have been trying some of the local restaurants in the evenings as well.

Yesterday Valerie and I went to an outdoor market in the town with the wife of one of Jesse's coworkers (they are American).  She knows some German and it was great to have her show us around.

I have been trying my best to pick up some German, but the local people are very nice and patient when you try to communicate with them.

In Germany dogs are allowed to be pretty much everywhere.  We even saw one in the airport when we first arrived.  Dogs are definitely Valerie's favorite animal and she loves seeing them everywhere!  I wonder what Blue would do..... :-)

I will try to upload some pictures soon.  We have a limited amount of internet usage each day.

Auf Wiedersehen!
